July marks an exciting milestone for English for Africa and for ELT in Morocco: our face-to-face intensive CELTA course in Casablanca has officially begun—with a full group of 18 candidates and three dedicated trainers.
The typical size of a CELTA course is 12 candidates, which is two full TP groups. Training 18 candidates and bringing together 3 internationally qualified trainers for a one-month course is more than a logistical and marketing achievement. It is a clear reflection of the growing demand for internationally recognized English language teacher training, and of the willingness of EFL teachers and would-be teachers to trust English for Africa to take their language teaching career to the next level.
This course is more than just a milestone in numbers. It represents a broader shift toward accessible, high-quality professional development for English language teachers across the region—and an increasing recognition of the Cambridge CELTA as a gateway to global opportunities in the world of ELT (English Language Teaching).

What Is the CELTA—and Why Does It Matter?
The CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults) is one of the most respected and widely recognized qualifications for teaching English to speakers of other languages. Awarded by Cambridge English, part of the University of Cambridge, it is considered the gold standard for new teachers looking to begin their careers, as well as experienced teachers who want to formalize their training.
What sets CELTA apart is its practical, hands-on approach. Over the course of four intensive weeks, candidates engage in live classroom teaching with real English learners. They receive continuous support and feedback from experienced trainers, building confidence and skill through direct application—not just theory.
Employers worldwide value CELTA certification because it ensures teachers can plan and deliver effective lessons, adapt to different student needs, and manage the classroom with professionalism and empathy. For those seeking teaching opportunities abroad, in international schools, language centers, or even online, CELTA is often a minimum requirement.
Inside the CELTA Course: How It Works
The face-to-face CELTA in Casablanca runs over four weeks and is structured to provide a deep immersion into both teaching practice and theoretical input. Each candidate is placed in a Teaching Practice (TP) group, working closely with peers and a trainer to design, deliver, and reflect on real lessons taught to groups of English language learners.
The course is divided into:
Teaching Practice: Candidates teach 6–8 lessons throughout the course, observed by trainers who offer detailed feedback and support.
Input Sessions: Daily sessions cover essential teaching techniques, language awareness, classroom management, and lesson planning.
Lesson Planning Support: Trainers provide one-on-one and small-group planning guidance to help candidates prepare effectively.
Written Assignments: Candidates complete four short assignments designed to reflect on language analysis, learner profiles, lesson planning, and professional development.
The schedule is intensive but rewarding. Candidates often describe the CELTA as transformative—a course that not only improves their teaching but also helps them grow as communicators, collaborators, and professionals.
A Regional Hub for Quality Teacher Training
Hosting a fully enrolled three-group (18 candidate) CELTA course in Casablanca is a proud moment for English for Africa. It confirms the city's status as a regional hub for internationally accredited teacher training and highlights our commitment to increasing access to high-quality education across Morocco, Mauritania, and beyond.
We are especially proud of the diverse group of candidates in this cohort, who bring a wide range of backgrounds, experiences, and motivations. Some are entering the teaching profession for the first time, while others are seasoned educators looking to enhance their qualifications. Together, they form a vibrant learning community that reflects the collaborative spirit of CELTA training.
