DELTA Module 1 Preparation Course

Join our Cambridge DELTA Course this Spring

For the first time in Morocco, EfA will be offering a fully online preparation course for the first Module of the DELTA. Prepare for the DELTA Module 1 Exam with our ten-week prep course, and take the test at our center in June of this year.

What is the DELTA?

The DELTA is Cambridge’s Diploma-level course in teaching English to speakers of other languages. At OfQualLevel 7 (the official body for educational standards in England and Wales), the DELTA is considered in the UK to be a Masters's level course.

You are eligible to take the course if you are at least 20 years of age, have a C1 level in English, and have at least one year of teaching experience.

The three modules of the DELTA are assessed separately and can be taken in any order. Very often, though, people opt to take Module 1 first.

  • Module 1 focuses on extending and developing candidates’ knowledge and understanding of teaching and learning English in a range of contexts. It is a paper-and-pen test administered at TQ centers. The test itself is offered only twice a year, at the beginning of June and the beginning of December.

  • Module 2 focuses on developing awareness and expertise in the principles and professional practice of teaching English in a range of contexts. It can be taken at any time, both online or in person, and is assessed by means of 4 Language Systems and Skills and Assignments. Each assignment is accompanied by an observed and assessed lesson taught in the context of the candidate.

  • Module 3 allows the candidate to explore a specific field of English language teaching in-depth and culminates in the submission of an assignment. There are two options for the format and content of the assignment:

  1. The design of a course program that extends the practitioner’s expertise in a specialized area of ELT;

  2. A written project focusing on an aspect of ELT management, ranging from human resources management to marketing or customer service.

It often takes between 1 and 2 years to complete all three modules of the course.

Why Take the DELTA?

If you are an experienced teacher who wants to take your teaching to the next level, the DELTA is for you. It is an internationally recognized diploma that opens the door to opportunities in educational management, teacher training, and prestigious teaching positions worldwide.

DELTA Module 1 Prep Course Content and Format

The aim of this course is to equip candidates to successfully take the Module 1 exam in June.

The course is fully online, with weekly synchronous sessions (meetings with the trainer and the other candidates) on the weekend. Candidates conduct an independent study during the week.

It will run for 10 weeks, with weekly sets of exam practice. Each candidate receives detailed personalized written feedback from the trainer, including suggestions for development and tips on how to improve performance on the exam. Candidates have a chance to implement these suggestions by practicing the same tasks again, in order to check their progress.

In addition to this, candidates are supported and given the opportunity to present research on specific topics to the rest of the group. Working individually or in groups, they lead presentations for the rest of the group at the end of each week.

Synchronous (live) input takes place every weekend, broken down into three 1-hour sessions.

  • Session one: We will troubleshoot issues from previous practices and/or set up upcoming practice tasks, providing tips and strategies for approaching the tasks.

  • Session two: The focus here is on specific exam tasks and strategies.

  • Session three: We finish up with a workshop in which course participants present and receive feedback on their research.
