My Journey as an English Teacher and Business Owner
Hi, everyone! My name is Heba El Fatihi. I’m 22 years old, an English teacher, and a proud business owner. My journey to where I am today has been nothing short of exciting, challenging, and incredibly fulfilling.
A Dream Takes Shape
Back in 2023, I graduated from university with a BA in English Studies, specializing in linguistics. During that year, I taught English face-to-face to kids and teenagers. That experience was life-changing. Teaching became my passion, and seeing my students progress gave me a deep sense of fulfillment.
However, starting out wasn’t easy. I struggled to find the right materials and design proper lesson plans. That’s when I decided to take a bold step forward.
CELTA: The Turning Point
In June 2023, I enrolled in the CELTA course with English for Africa (EfA). This decision marked a turning point in my career. The course was intensive but transformative. I gained the tools to design effective lesson plans, select appropriate materials, and tailor my approach to meet the diverse needs of my students.
The online course format was particularly helpful. It allowed me to experience firsthand how to engage students remotely and adapt my teaching techniques to an online setting. Additionally, the course provided an invaluable opportunity to adapt to different situations and cultures, as it brought together participants from diverse countries, including Morocco, Chad, China, Iran, and many others. This multicultural environment enriched my understanding of global teaching contexts and equipped me to navigate the complexities of cross-cultural communication.
I’m incredibly grateful for the trainers at EfA, whose guidance and expertise shaped my journey. Their dedication and professionalism inspired me to continuously grow as an educator.
Building “Language Loom”
In October 2023, I founded my business, “Language Loom.” The name reflects my philosophy: education weaves knowledge and creativity into a meaningful learning experience. Starting out, I focused on designing courses for beginners, adults, kids, and teenagers. Teaching online allowed me the freedom to be creative and reach a broader audience.
Growing Beyond Borders
With the launch of my Instagram page, I began connecting with students across Morocco and internationally, teaching learners from Russia, Italy, and Indonesia. The global reach has been a testament to the power of technology in bringing people together.
A Bright Future Ahead
At the end of each day, the most rewarding part of my journey is knowing I’ve made a difference. Hearing my students say they’ve learned something valuable reminds me why I chose this path.
